Ash Wednesday at University Lutheran

We will gather at 7pm at Unviersity Lutheran’s sanctuary on Wednesday, February 10th to begin Lent together as a community.

The “celebration” of Ash Wednesday is actually the beginning of a fast, the fast of Lent. Throughout the Bible, God’s faithful people would memorialize a time when they saw that they had to turn around and repent (the word “repent” literally means to turn around). It was a time of recognizing where one had lost their way and needed to get back to God. Of course, we don’t get back to God, God gets back to us by giving us His Son to die on the Cross for our sins. This Ash Wednesday and all of Lent are about repenting, turning around and seeing that Jesus and His Cross are right there to forgive us of our sins.

We invite you to begin all over again this Lent. Maybe you’ve been attending faithfully or maybe you have fallen out of the practice of worshiping regularly – whoever you are, join us as we start all over again.
