Tenebrae means “service in the shadows”.  As we gather together for Good Friday, the natural light in University Lutheran wanes and our worship space becomes darker.

In this service we consider the suffering that Jesus took on our account. We strip the altar of its normal paraments and items as our Lord was stripped in order to be placed on the cross.
