I don’t watch a lot of reality television, but one of the shows that I will indulge in that happens to be in the reality genre is called “American Pickers”. The show is about two guys who own a business called “Antique Archeology” and they go through the country basically meeting hoarders who have stuff that these two guys can sell in their antique shop.
During the course of the show you find that some stuff that you would likely call “junk,” are things that other people collect and pay top dollar for. That fits the readings from this past Sunday pretty well.
God looks at you and immediately His eyes light up. He wants you in His collection. His collection is a collection of sinners who He then figures out how to refurbish and display so that their true value shows up. Your value is found in His eyes, His estimation of Your worth. And that value is the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
God finds you valuable. That can be a pretty surprising, even unbelievable, statement. But He does. And to show how much He values you, He paid the price of Your salvation. So go out into this world knowing that despite how other people might value you. God has valued you beyond belief.
